Family Fun at the Drive-In

Adelaide's Wallis Mainline Drive-In are once again holding special Saturday movie nights dedicated for families. Family Flix Drive in Movies open an hour before the movie starts so you can get there early and enjoy a relaxed dinner before sitting back to watch the large outdoor screen.

What to bring:

Pack the car with pillows and blankets along with foldable chairs and even a portable (card) table to set up alongside your car.

Bring a picnic basket from home with an easy dinner or pick up a roast chicken, fish & chips or your favorite take-away on the way there. There is also a cafe located inside the drive-in that sells snacks, popcorn, ice-creams, drinks and hot food.

Be sure to rug up on chilly nights as your car engine will be turned off. The movie is broadcast over a local radio channel so I recommend bringing a portable radio. The kids can even go dressed in their pj’s so they’re ready for bed when you get home! The kids loved piling into the back of the station wagons with sleeping bags, pillows and bean bags. The movies start at 6pm so it’s not too late a finish time for the kids.

Activities for children:

To make it extra fun, there are also additional activities to entertain the kids each evening:

  • farm animals

  • face painter

  • disco
